Feng Shui for Home Renovation
Client issue
The client was at the start of a renovation project and wanted some guidance to ensure the design decisions she made were positive from a Feng Shui perspective.
“As the renovation progressed Max helped me through the decision-making process. She explained feng shui concepts in plain English and made it very easy to understand. She was open and supportive and helped me feel comfortable with my own creative choices. In one room we decided to take inspiration from a famous London theatre and a few months later my son was offered a place on a training programme there!”

Adjustments
-
Applying the Bagua
Max overlaid the feng shui ‘map’ - called the bagua - over the floorpan of the house. This showed the client what aspects of life the different areas of the home relate to, which helped her to decide things such as the optimum places for the boiler, appliances etc.
-
Balancing the five elements
Once the bagua had been applied Max was able to talk the client through how best to balance the five elements of water, wood, fire, earth and metal. This helped the client with decorating choices such as colours, patterns, shapes and materials.
-
Optimising furniture placement
Max worked with the client to ensure optimum placement of beds, sofas, and desks in each room. The best placement is in the ‘command’ position and it influences how we think, feel and behave as well as impacting our physical health and sleep quality.
-
Healthy home check
Max measured electromagnetic fields throughout the house to ensure there were no hotspots near beds or seating areas, and also tested for geopathic stress. Both can be detrimental to wellbeing, causing acute symptoms and sometimes long term health issues.
-
Preventing energy leaks
There are some architectural issues that typically impact the Feng Shui within period homes in the UK. Max advised the client on how to maximise the ‘chi’ or energy coming in, how to ensure good circulation of energy around the home, and how to minimise energy leakage.
-
Results
The family have settled in very well and the client is happy with the decisions she made based on Max’s guidance. Some of the adjustments are still a work in progress and the client is continuing to optimise all aspects of the home including addressing a missing section in her Prosperity area.
